“Martin Guerre”, based on the film “The Return of Martin Guerre”, has been mentioned a couple of times. There is a recording of the original 1996 London production. Boublil and Schonberg did an almost complete re-working of the score for a 1998 West Yorkshire production, also available on CD. Both productions on First Night CDs.

Robert and Elizabeth, a 60s musical/operetta based on Rudolf Besier’s play The Barretts Of Wimpole Street, about the love affair between Elizabeth Barrett and Robert Browning. According to Wikipedia, it never made it to Broadway due to a copyright dispute with Besier’s estate. It might seem old-fashioned nowadays but it has some great numbers:
