Broadway Musicals That Need A Revival NOW!

With the new revivals of Carousel, My Fair Lady and Once on this Island, it is very hard to forget that there are plenty of shows that people think need a revival which for some reason, Broadway producers seem to forget that these are shows that people want to watch again, so here are my choices:

Fourth wall breaks? Political satire? Jokes about it's own art form? WHAT MORE COULD YOU ASK FOR? With a Tony-winning book, score and direction, Urinetown is a funny musical that needs more stage time with a great cast to sing some of the most hilarious show tunes of the 2000's.

An incredibly popular show in Britain, it is probably one of Andrew Lloyd Webber's more positive musicals. With memorable songs such as "Any Dream will do" and "Close Every Door", this show is fun and appealing and willmalways leave you with tunes in your head. So why not have those tunes stuck in our heads again?

This amazing show covers topics of mental illness and the strain it can place on families. With the new technology on Broadway right now and a quick update to the script, this show could conquer The Great White Way.

Set during the time of Jack the Ripper, Redhead starred an all star cast such as Richard Kiley and Gwen Verdon. With opportunities to use some of Broadway's greatest stars and some new choreography, Redhead definitely deserves a revival.

Considering this show tied with The Sound of Music for the Tony Award for Best Musical, it is strange that people forget how acclaimed the original production was. It is definitely time for a revival.

Speaking of Comden and Green, the musical adaptation of the Best Picture winning film All about Eve, the musical originally starred the incredible Lauren Bacall as an aging star who takes a younger actress under her wing, until finding out that this actress as some more sinister motives.

With one of the most original styles of Broadway, City of Angels is the story of a author named Stine turning his novel about a Private Eye named Stone. These stories happen together with Stine's story being in colour and Stone's story being in black and white. With jazzy tunes and some great performances, this show is a highly asked show to be arrived.

Being the only musical to win the Tony Award for Best Musical after closing, this show has music by Jule Styne(Gypsy) and lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green(Wonderful Town, On the Twentieth Century) and an all black cast, I believe this show could work with the cast being the orchestra.
