Happy Halloween! Are you ready for another Theatre Nerds DIY? Today we will be making our very own Addam’s Family: Cousin It Candy Jar-just in time for the spooky holidays!

Lets get started:

What you will need:

-Mason Jar
-Tiny Hat (Found at Joann’s Fabrics in the doll section)
-Tan Yarn
-Scissors
-Sticky Black Felt
-Tape

To begin we will start by making our hair! Lay out a strip of tape 12″ long sticky side up. Using smaller strips of tape, hold down the strip so it doesn’t move. With your yarn, begin to loop the yarn back and forth about 6 inches long. Place the yarn as low as you can on the tape to help make a smaller band later on. Keep the yarn as tight as you can to each other for a fuller look. Once you have reached the end, take your scissors, and cut the loops, not attached to the tape to make them singular strands. After they have all been cut, fold your tape over onto itself to sandwich the yarn. Cut off the excess tape for a thinner strip. Since we need to wrap the mason jar completely, repeat these steps until you have 10 strips of hair!

Now that you have your hair, we can begin to attach them to the jar! Starting from the bottom, place the first strip of hair around the jar into the desired placement. Once it has been positioned, tape each end together and secure onto the jar. Continue to repeat this pattern all the way up to the top of the jar. Once you have reached the neck of the mason jar, take your extra yarn and wrap it around to cover it up completely.

Now it’s time to make Cousin It’s sunglasses! Using your sticky backed felt, flip it over so the backing is facing up. Draw out a pair of sunglasses and cut them out. Remove the backing and place onto the yarn/mason jar where his eyes should be.

Lastly, once everything has been put together, place your favorite candies and treats inside of the jar. You are now ready to add his final element, his hat to seal the deal! Now you not only have a fun new jar, but a great halloween decoration to add to your collection!

We hope you had fun doing this DIY with us! Please like, comment and share if you participated by making this Addam’s Family DIY!

Have a fun and safe Halloween & happy crafting!

Aside from cat videos and prank videos, YouTube is an incredible tool for entertainers in the musical theatre field. YouTubers such as Thomas Sanders, Jon Cozart and Malinda Kathleen Reese have made huge names for themselves among musical theatre fans for their hilarious covers and medleys.
As for the up-and-coming scene of Broadway-loving YouTubers, one is already making a name for himself with his candid personality and wicked talents. Here are 12 reasons why theatre nerds need to know about Kevin Lynch:

1. His ‘Musical Monday’ Series Is Wildly Entertaining

Every Monday, Lynch posts a video of himself singing and playing either an original song or a selection from a musical or movie. His performances are often ambitious, sometimes lasting well over 10 minutes.

2. His Live Reaction Videos Are the Best

Lynch also records a series of live reactions while listening to contemporary cast albums and performances gone wrong.

3. His Piano Skills Are Outstanding

Lynch is a music graduate of William Paterson University and used to be a staff accompanist at Juilliard. He has also recorded videos playing works by Mozart and Chopin.

4. He Spotlights Lesser-Known Shows

From its earliest version in 1999 to its Broadway debut in 2008, “In the Heights” has made audiences around the world exclaim, “Wepa!” Lin-Manuel Miranda’s precursor to “Hamilton “ revolves around a largely Latin American community in Manhattan’s Washington Heights neighborhood.

While some original cast members remain active in New York’s theatre scene, others have more massive projects while welcoming more accolades. Here’s what the original Broadway cast of “In the Heights” has been up to, 10 years later:

1. Lin-Manuel Miranda:

2. Karen Olivo

Welcome back to another Theatre Nerds DIY! Today we will be doing a Mean Girls Burn Book (bag)!

What You’ll Need:

-pink tote bag (or any color, then paint pink)

-black and white fabric

-Black, white and red puffy paint

-Scissors

-fabric glue

-Burn Book photo reference

Instructions:

To begin, rip small, varying sizes of the black and white fabric. It helps to get an image reference online of what the real Burn Book looks like. Have enough scraps for each letter to spell out “Burn Book”. Once you have your eight pieces, begin to write in each letter onto each piece. Using the photo, you’ll be able to get specific details of each unique letter. Once you have done this, put the letters to the side to dry. Puffy paint takes up to 4 hours to completely settle, place them in the sun to speed up the process!

While your lettering are drying, bring out your black puffy paint to begin to do the detailing on the bag. Since most of it is scribbling, the combination of photo referencing as well as just having fun will do the job! Allow everything to dry for 4 hours!

Once your lettering and bag has dried, you can finally place your “Burn Book” letters in place. Once they are positioned in your ideal spot, go ahead and take your glue, and adhere the fabric to the tote bag.

For the finale touch, we will find center between “Burn” and “book” to place our iconic lipstick kiss. Using your puffy paint, draw out an simple lip smack to finish off the look!

Once everything is dry, you are now able to flaunt your new Mean Girls bag around town! We can’t wait for it to open on Broadway this month.
