The only cure is to find a small role in a show, and face that fear of being in front of an audience.

Mine was so bad, that in High School, I would skip class if there was any kind of oral presentation to be done. I never even thought about being involved in ANY aspect of theater until my oldest daughter got into a show, and they needed volunteers to work backstage. I had such a blast, I stayed involved, and eventually ended up President of a local youth community theater company.

Eventually a show came up, and our director was out, and I had to give the curtain speech. I gave probably the worst speech in history because I froze up so badly. I decided at that point that I had to overcome it, so tried out for our adult theaters outdoor production of Much Ado about Nothing.

A thunderstorm hit just before the halfway point, and the audience and actors ended up in a 10 x 30 room finishing the show. We marked off about 3 foot at the front of the room, and that was our stage. There is nothing that can scare me after performing that close to an audience on my very first go round.

Thanks Meagan!

Not a full scale production of Wicked (I wish). Just a student musical cabaret that included Defying Gravity another number from Wicked and a couple of numbers from the Wizard of Oz, amongst other things. It would be amazing if the rights to the show became available! It's such a fantastic musical!

But how did you get the rights to perform Wicked? Just curious because I know a couple theaters that would love to get their hands on the rights to that show.
