This one is personal as it is one of favourites plays ever! The oldest play on this list is by French playwright Yasmina Reza and translated by Christopher Hampton. The story concerns good 3 friends: Marc, Serge and Yvan (pronounced Ivan) who’s friendship is on the brink of collapsing after Serge buys a 5ft by 4ft painting that is white with a white background for €200,000. Serge is proud of his purchase, Marc hates it and Yvan tries to stop them from fighting. This play about friendship and, you guessed it, art is hilarious and thrilling and should be remembered as such!
