5 Shows Casey Nicholaw Should Direct

With new musical The Prom on the way to Broadway, what should be next for the director/choreographer?

#1 Legally Blonde

I'm currently in a production of this show as Emmet and I wouldn't have auditioned if I didn't like the show, so I like this show. A lot. Nicholaw has previously stated that he prefers doing comedy the most and if there is something that Legally Blonde is, it's funny. Upbeat tunes along with energetic choreography means he and the cast are guaranteed to keep you entertained.

Also Legally Blonde deserves a revival no matter what so #legallyblonderevivalnow

#2 A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum

The absolute definition of musical comedy done right. One of the funniest shows to ever grace the Broadway stages is the Stephen Sondheim masterpiece. Though it may not be ambitious in its choreography, the show requires a genius to make sure the audience may fall over from laughing too much and Nicholaw is that genius. Put him with his favourite set designer Scott Pask and costume designer Gregg Barnes and we have got a hit!

#3 The Producers

Another piece of musical comedy gold, the incredibly successful Mel Brooks show has a collection of absolute showstoppers including "I Wanna Be a Producer", "When You've Got It, Flaunt It" and, of course, "Springtime for Hitler". A combination of physical comedy and hilarious one-liners along with a lot of large dance numbers. If the original production wasn't perfect enough, and let me remind you it won 12 Tony Awards the highest in history, Nicholaw is the one to make it perfect.

#5 The Music Man

The only big problem with a revival of The Music Man is that no one will be able to play Harold Hill better than Robert Preston, but as I say: "You may not be good but you sure can try to be". As an example of classic musical comedy, it contains loveable characters with witty interactions and the catchy tunes that will keep you humming when you leave the theatre, go to sleep and then when you wake up. This show is a Casey Nicholaw dream.

If he won't I will. I really want to direct a production of The Music Man. Even if I've never directed something ever.
