Dancing. Probably the second thing that comes to mind when people think of musicals (the first being singing, duh). Dancing comes in many styles from jazz to tap, from ballet to break dancing, which makes it all so creative. People have favourite choreography and these are my favourite!
#1 Anything Goes
What would Anything Goes be without the dancing? Probably not the classic it is today. With so much tap dancing you'll have the sound ringing in your head and you'll have trouble deciding who your favourite choreographer is.
#2 Newsies
Newsies is one of the most popular musicals of this decade and a large part of this is due to choreography. Christopher Gatelli uses flips and big jumps to show a very positive attitude and to show the talent of dancers.
#3 In the Heights
#4 The Will Rogers Follies
Tommy Tune out did himself with the life story of one of the biggest stars of American history. With tap dancing on a rainbow staircase and one of the best dancing while sitting down ("Our Favourite Son")!
#5 42nd Street
Nothing can get more Broadway than 42nd Street. The sight of the cast tap dancing on the large staircase in gold-spangled costumes is truly iconic and has spanned across decades from the original film to the original 1980 Broadway production to the 2001 Broadway revival.
